History

Over a Century of Dedication and Innovation

When he established the firm in 1905, the late Arthur C. Carrara CMG KC was a friend and colleague of Sergio Pelayo Triay QC. Sergio Triay then joined Carrara at his new practice in 1926 and when Arthur Carrara died in 1949, Sergio’s son JJ joined his father at the firm. It then became known as Triay & Triay. Other family members followed: JJ’s brother JE Triay QC joined in 1952 and became the firm’s senior partner in 1972. In the early 1990s, the firm merged with Vasquez Benady, bringing on board the legal talents of Samuel Benady CBE QC and Sir Alfred J Vasquez CBE QC MA (Cantab). Sadly, both JE Triay and Sir Alfred J Vasquez passed away in 2012. But, Triay & Triay remains a family firm: all of JE Triay’s sons are partners, as are the son and nephew of Sir Alfred Vasquez.
